Processing Overview
Description: Powder coating is a dry coating process that uses an electrostatic spray gun to evenly apply powder coating to the surface of a part. It is then melted and solidified through high-temperature baking (typically 160-200°C), forming a protective layer with a thickness of 50-150μm. The process includes surface pretreatment (degreasing and phosphating), spraying, and curing to ensure adhesion and uniformity.

Applicable Materials: Metals (such as steel and aluminum), some plastics (such as ABS and nylon).

Visual Appearance: A smooth, uniform colored or metallic finish with matte, glossy, or textured finishes available.

Precautions
  • Surface Preparation: Ensure parts are free of oil, dirt, or rust. The quality of pre-treatment directly impacts adhesion; sandblasting is recommended.
  • Thickness Control: Avoid excessive coating that may cause blistering. Test the dry film thickness (50-150μm is optimal).
  • Temperature Management: The baking temperature must match the material properties to avoid deformation; test heat-sensitive parts.
  • Design Considerations: Avoid complex geometries that affect uniformity; plan shielded areas to protect non-coated areas.
  • Quality Standards: Comply with ASTM D3451 or ISO 12944 to check adhesion and weatherability.
  • Safety Measures: Use protective equipment during spraying, control dust emissions, and meet environmental standards.
