Case-Hardening Services

Welcome to FLYcncpart's surface carburizing and hardening service! This process enhances the surface hardness of parts, and our Shenzhen team uses advanced equipment to ensure wear resistance, making it suitable for high-load applications.
Processing Overview
Description: Case carburizing involves heating to 850-950°C to infiltrate carbon into a hardened layer (0.1-2mm deep), followed by quenching and tempering. The process involves carburizing, diffusion, and heat treatment, with a total duration of 4-20 hours.

Applicable Materials: Mild and medium carbon steels.

Visual Appearance: Slight surface discoloration (light gray or blue), with no noticeable grain in the hardened layer.
Advantage
  • High Surface Hardness: The hardened layer reaches HV 600-900, resisting wear.
  • Core Toughness: Maintains ductility within the core, resisting impact.
  • High Fatigue Resistance: Improves component life, suitable for gears and shafts.
  • Cost-Effectiveness: Achieves high performance using low-cost steel.
  • Dimensional Stability: A thin hardened layer allows for minimal tolerance variations.
  • Versatility: Suitable for mechanical and automotive components.

Precautions
  • Temperature Control: 850-950°C. Excessively high temperatures can lead to coarse grains. Test for carbon concentration.
  • Quenching Management: Rapid cooling to avoid cracks. Test for hardness distribution.
  • Surface Protection: Use an anti-carburizing mask to protect non-hardened areas.
  • Design Considerations: Plan for uniform wall thickness and avoid stress at sharp corners.
  • Quality Standards: Comply with ASTM A255, checking hardness and depth.
  • Safety Measures: Protect against high temperatures and carbon dust, and control exhaust gases.
