Bead Blasted + Anodized Type III (Hardcoat) Sevices

Welcome to FLYcncpart's Bead Blasted + Anodized Type III (Hardcoat) Sevice service! This composite process provides ceramic-like hardness protection, and our Shenzhen team ensures wear resistance, making it suitable for high-intensity applications.
Processing Overview
Description: The surface is pre-treated by bead blasting (Ra 2.0-4.0μm), followed by Type III hard anodizing (phosphoric or sulfuric acid electrolyte, thickness 25-150μm) to form a high-hardness oxide layer. The process includes blasting, electroplating, cryogenic temperature control, and sealing, with a total processing time of 2-6 hours.

Applicable Materials: Aluminum and its alloys (such as 2024 and 6061).

Visual Appearance: Gray or dark satin texture, hard and scratch-resistant surface.
Advantage
  • Extremely high hardness: Oxide layer hardness of HV 300-500, 5 times greater wear resistance.
  • Excellent Corrosion Resistance: Thick layer protects against harsh environments such as marine and chemical environments.
  • Texture Enhancement: Sandblasting provides grip, while the hard layer enhances functionality.
  • Electrical Insulation: Low conductivity, suitable for electrical isolation.
  • Long Life: Durable and reduces maintenance costs.
  • Compatibility: Used as a pretreatment to improve adhesion of subsequent coatings.

Precautions
  • Temperature Control: Use low-temperature (0-5°C) electroplating to avoid stress; test for thermal expansion.
  • Thickness Uniformity: 25-150μm; sandblasting texture should match the thicker layer.
  • Sealing Optimization: Use hot water sealing to enhance alkali resistance.
  • Design Considerations: Avoid thin-wall designs; plan ventilation holes to prevent air bubbles.
  • Quality Standards: Comply with MIL-A-8625 Type III, checking hardness and thickness.
  • Safety Measures: Wear protective gear when working in acid baths; control waste discharge.
