Processing Overview
Description: Electropolishing involves placing the part as the anode in an electrolyte (a mixture of phosphoric acid and sulfuric acid) and applying a direct current to remove trace surface metal, achieving a roughness of Ra 0.1-0.4μm. The process includes pre-cleaning, electrolysis (voltage 5-15V, 5-30 minutes), and neutralization cleaning to remove burrs and oxide layers.

Applicable Materials: Stainless steel, aluminum, copper, titanium, and their alloys.

Visual Appearance: A smooth, high-gloss surface with a subtle shimmer or mirror effect that enhances metallic luster.

  • Part Fixturing: Ensure uniform immersion and a void localized over-polishing; plan hook positions.
  • Design Considerations: Avoid deep or blind holes, which can affect electrolysis uniformity. Quality Standards: Comply with ASTM B912 or ISO 15730, checking Ra values ​​and gloss.
  • Safety Measures: Wear protective clothing and gloves when handling acidic wastewater, and comply with environmental regulations.
