Description
Titanium Grade 5, also known as Ti-6Al-4V, is the most widely used titanium alloy. It contains 6% aluminum and 4% vanadium, giving it excellent strength, toughness, and corrosion resistance. It is about twice as strong as pure titanium grades while still relatively lightweight. Grade 5 dominates aerospace, medical, and high-performance engineering applications.

Introduction to Titanium Grade 5(Ti-6Al-4V)

What
Titanium Grade 5 (UNS R56400) is an α-β titanium alloy containing aluminum (alpha stabilizer) and vanadium (beta stabilizer). This microstructure provides high tensile strength, excellent fatigue resistance, and good corrosion resistance. It can be heat-treated for improved strength, and it is weldable with proper techniques. Because of its unique combination of properties, it is the most commonly used titanium alloy in aerospace and medical implants.
