Steel 1045 is a medium-carbon steel with higher strength and hardness than 1018. With around 0.45% carbon, it is widely used in engineering applications where strength and wear resistance are more important than extreme ductility. It can be heat-treated to improve hardness and fatigue resistance.

Introduction to Steel 1215

What
Steel 1215 (AISI 1215) is a resulfurized and rephosphorized steel with outstanding machinability—rated close to 100% on the machinability scale. It allows high-speed CNC turning and milling with minimal tool wear. Its sulfur and phosphorus additions, however, reduce ductility and weldability. It is not intended for heat treatment and is best used in applications requiring precision machining rather than high strength.
