Description
A286 is an iron-nickel-chromium-based austenitic stainless steel designed for high strength and excellent corrosion resistance at elevated temperatures. It combines good oxidation resistance with the ability to maintain mechanical strength up to about 700 °C (1300 °F). Thanks to its heat resistance and durability, it is often used in aerospace engines, gas turbines, and high-temperature fasteners.

What
Stainless Steel A286 (UNS S66286) is an iron-nickel-chromium alloy strengthened by additions of molybdenum and titanium. Unlike conventional stainless steels, it provides both good corrosion resistance and high-temperature mechanical performance. It is classified as a “superalloy” because of its stability under high stress and high heat. This makes A286 a top choice for demanding aerospace and energy applications.
