Stainless Steel 410

Material Type:Metal
Material Name:Stainless Steel 410

Alternative Names:UNS S41000 | EN 1.4006 | ASTM A240
Process Compatibility:CNC Milling, CNC Turning, Heat Treatment
Description
410 Stainless Steel is a martensitic stainless steel containing 11.5–13.5% chromium. It provides good corrosion resistance along with high strength and hardness after heat treatment. While its corrosion resistance is lower than austenitic grades, it is widely used for parts requiring wear resistance, strength, and moderate corrosion protection.

Introduction to Stainless Steel 410

What
Stainless Steel 410 (UNS S41000) is the basic martensitic stainless steel. It can be hardened and tempered through heat treatment, providing high mechanical strength and wear resistance. Although it has lower corrosion resistance compared to 304 or 316, it performs well in mildly corrosive environments such as air, fresh water, and some chemicals. It is magnetic in all conditions and is often used where strength and toughness outweigh maximum corrosion protection.
Advantages
Can be heat-treated for high strength and hardness
Good wear and abrasion resistance
Moderate corrosion resistance in less aggressive environments
Cost-effective compared to higher alloy stainless steels
